Day 210
2 Chronicles 24:1‐25:28; Romans 12:1‐21; Psalm 22:19‐31; Proverbs 20:8‐10
Being Transformed, One Way or Another
King Joash and King Amaziah were leaders entrusted with serving both God and the people He had given them to rule. Both began their reigns well but over time transformed into kingships that stood against what God wanted for them and their people. This transformation didn’t happen immediately. They were transformed by the decisions they made over time in regard to who they would depend on for help: God or something else. We face the same question that Joash and Amaziah did. Who are we going to depend on in times of crisis? How we answer this question will change not only our immediate situation but will also transform our future.
Paul’s letter to the Romans calls us to “be transformed by the renewing of [our] mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Transformation requires both knowing what God wants you to do and then doing it. Actions speak louder than words.
The deeds of King Joash and King Amaziah are recorded in the second Book of Chronicles. They both ended poorly and that is also recorded. Even now our lives are being transformed one way or another by the decisions we make. In the end, what deeds will be recorded about us?
