A Pleasing Prayer
“I call to you, Lord, come quickly to me; hear me when I call to you. May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.” – Psalm 141:1-2
When it comes to prayer, honesty is the best policy. This is true of David, the writer and composer of most of the Psalms. His prayers were often raw and unedited, and he poured them out before God from the depths of his heart. It’s this kind of prayer that David hopes to be like “incense” before God. The honesty is the difference between mere words and a powerful prayer.
We should all remember to strive to be like David in our prayer life. Honest, open, and truthful. Because these are the characteristics of our prayer that God finds pleasing. Cry out to God today with the honesty of what is in the depths of your heart.
