Day 91
Deuteronomy 18:1‐20:20; Luke 9:28‐50; Psalm 73:1‐28; Proverbs 12:10
God Is in the Day-to-Day Details
Everyday life is full of everyday struggles, obstacles, issues, and trials. In the journey of faith, Almighty God seeks to redeem the details of life and reveal Himself in the midst of the ordinary, making it extraordinary. In these readings, we find simple instructions on how to live, how to overcome adversaries, resolve conflicts, subdue creation, treat our animals, overcome darkness, and much more.
In the routine of day-to-day living, Almighty God reveals Himself. He is concerned with what we might call the simple things because somehow if we look intently, listen carefully, and pray with our eyes open, we will encounter our Creator everyday and see the wonder of His creation and marvel at His presence.
The great revelation in these readings is the Transfiguration; Jesus reveals His glory. He is fully human; He is fully God. We cannot quantify or understand this mystery but in this moment we are given a glimpse of the greatness of God manifest in the Incarnate Christ. Something extraordinary happens, and the three disciples who were witnesses never look at Jesus the same way again. If we are not paying attention, we will miss these revelations; they will run past us. The challenge for me is to take time to be still, to pause in wonder and awe of a God who reveals Himself in simple things, in simple ways. In doing so I am enriched in faith and fueled for what lies ahead.
Lord Jesus make yourself known to me in the daily routines, teach me how to live a life that honors you in all things.
