Day 88
Deuteronomy 11:1‐12:32; Luke 8:22‐39; Psalm 70:1‐5; Proverbs 12:4
Where Is Your Faith?
Jesus asks the disciples, “Where is your faith?” after they wake Him up because they are afraid their boat was going to capsize in the storm. There is their faith, Jesus! They knew if they woke you up all would be well, and it was! They could count on Jesus to make things right.
But it isn’t the same for the villagers on the other side of the sea. They are afraid after what they see Jesus can do. They ask Him to leave them; they don’t know what to make of Him. Their faith must grow in order to know what the disciples know: Call on Jesus when you are swamped and the storm will be calmed.
God promises the Israelites wandering in the desert the same thing. Keep my commandments and all will be well. Who do you trust? Where is your faith?
Does it feel like you know where Jesus is, but He is asleep? And you are being swamped? Notice what the disciples call Jesus when they wake Him up. They call, “Master! Master!” Call on the one who is the master of the waves, the master of the wind and be amazed at what will obey Him. It might even be you who hears and obeys.
