Day 183
2 Kings 20:1‐22:2; Acts 21:17‐36; Psalm 150:1‐6; Proverbs 18:9‐10
The End Is Praise!
What better way to conclude the study of Psalms than with one of the great psalms of praise? This psalm lifts us spiritually as we give praise and thanksgiving to God for all He does for us. It is a way of giving our all for all He gives us. The end is praise. The last Psalm reveals our chief end as the redeemed people of God!
Music and song were an integral part of Old Testament worship. King David had introduced music into the temple services (1 Chronicles 16:4-7). We can imagine that the music was loud and joyous as evidenced by the list of instruments we have here, combined with “everything that has breath” praising the Lord. Music was also an important part of New Testament worship (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16).
The message of this psalm is clear. We are to praise God with all that we are and all that we have. In the psalms, we have looked at problems, troubles, grief, temptation; but we have also looked at the provisions of God: His love, guidance, protection, peace, presence, mercy, deliverance, forgiveness and other blessings. In the midst of every challenge we face in life, there is good reason to praise God. The end is praise!
Prayer: Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
