Day 67
Numbers 10:1‐11:23; Mark 14:1‐21; Psalm 51:1‐19; Proverbs 10:31‐32
Preparation
“…Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. Say to the owner of the house he enters, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ He will show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.” – Mark 14:12-16
Preparations…. There were many that the disciples made in the upper room for the Passover meal. The Passover was the annual meal that commemorated the deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt. It was celebrated to remind them that the blood of the lamb saved them from God’s wrath. They would have prepared 4 cups representing God’s 4 promises in Exodus 6:6-7. They would serve the bread, herbs, and lamb. However, this Passover, the Last Supper, would be different than the rest. The bread, the cup of wine, and yes, the lamb. Jesus was the Lamb that all other lambs pointed to. By His blood we would be saved from the wrath of God. John the Baptist recognized that when he said, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).
Preparations…. Precious disciples, make your hearts ready! Each week we have the opportunity for communion with the living God. Recline at the table with the Lord and taste and see He is good! (Psalm 34:8) Knowing full well that He has delivered you with His blood (Revelation 5:9). “Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and the bride has made herself ready” (Revelation 19:7).
